I am writing to provide you with an important update regarding the recently implemented tariffs, including the policy change announced by President Trump on April 9th.
Unfortunately, the President's announcement of a "pause" did not eliminate the new tariffs. His actions did reduce his previously announced tariffs for many countries. But as of today, imports from all countries, with the notable exception of China, will be charged 10%. The Netherlands, for example, dropped from 20% to 10%. Thailand went from 37% to 10%. Colombia and Ecuador, on the other hand, will be unchanged at 10%. This means the 10% across the board tariff is still in effect and being added to imports INCLUDING flowers.
You're probably wondering what does this have to do with flowers? Well, like other businesses we feel the shift in pricing as well and often times it affects the consumer. I love to support local farmers, however, most of our daily product is sourced from all of these countries mentioned above directly.
While this is an unfortunate situation for everyone I am actively monitoring this situation and praying that things settle so that small businesses like Premier Flowers can continue to thrive. I will always communicate any updates with our following and clients as they occur.
